DfAM Consulting
Axiom Works provides DfAM consulting to engineering teams that are evaluating additive manufacturing for a new or existing application. The goal is to determine whether a part should be printed, how it should be designed to take advantage of the process, and what material will meet the functional requirements.
Part Geometry Analysis
Not every part is a good candidate for additive manufacturing. Some designs are better suited for machining or injection molding. Part of our DfAM process is honest evaluation. We review the geometry, wall thicknesses, tolerances, and functional requirements before making a recommendation. If additive manufacturing is the right choice, we proceed. If it is not, we say so.
Material Selection
Material selection is one of the most consequential decisions in additive manufacturing. The wrong material fails in the application. The right material can outperform metals in weight, chemical resistance, or cost per part. Axiom Works carries over 40 engineering-grade materials and selects based on the application requirements, not availability.
From Consultation to Production
DfAM consulting at Axiom Works does not end with a recommendation document. If the part is a good candidate for additive manufacturing and the client wants to proceed, we build it. The same team that evaluated the design produces the part. That continuity eliminates the translation errors that happen when a design team hands off to a separate manufacturer.
